Finding peace in the water
Story:
Margot entered my coaching and hypnosis premises seeking answers, her posture guarded and her tone skeptical. “I’m not sure I believe in hypnosis,” she admitted, her hazel eyes narrowing. “But I’ve tried everything else, and this fear… it feels like it’s something beyond the ordinary.”
For years, Margot had been haunted by a fear of water so intense it shaped her life. Recurring dreams of drowning, an unshakable sense of guilt, and a vague connection to a distant past had left her restless. “I don’t know what it is,” she confessed. “But I need to understand it, and maybe … let it go.”
Despite her initial doubts, Margot allowed herself to relax under the gentle cadence of my guidance. Slowly, she began to reveal a hidden scenario captured deep within her subconscious—centuries-old memories of a stormy sea, a sinking ship, and the helpless cries of others.
“I’m on a ship,” she whispered during the session. “The waves are towering, and I can’t save them… I can’t save myself.” She saw herself as a sailor in an ancient life, her guilt and fear from that fateful night echoing across time into her present life.
As Margot relived the moment, I guided her to understand and release the guilt she had carried for so long. “You did all you could,” I reminded her. “It was never your fault.”
When she emerged from hypnosis, her skepticism was replaced with awe. “It’s like I’ve been holding onto something I didn’t even know was there,” she said, tears of relief shining in her eyes.
In the weeks that followed, Margot began to face her fear of water with newfound courage. She visited a nearby lake, letting the gentle waves lap at her feet, and even began journaling about her transformative experience.
“You helped me uncover something extraordinary,” she told me during a follow-up visit.
“The answers were always within you,” I replied, smiling.
Explanation:
The unfolding of a hidden story
In this trance-like state, Margot discovered she had been a sailor in a past life. Her ship had been caught in a storm, and she had felt powerless to prevent the tragedy. The guilt and fear she carried from that moment had imprinted deeply, manifesting as her current fear of water.
The path to release
To heal, Margot needed to understand and forgive. I guided her to see the situation differently—not through the eyes of guilt, but with compassion. “You did all you could,” I reminded her. “The storm was beyond your control.”
As she relived the experience, Margot felt the weight of centuries begin to lift. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she visualised releasing the guilt and embracing forgiveness.
When she emerged, her skepticism was replaced with awe. “I can’t believe how vivid it was,” she said. “It’s like I finally understand where this fear comes from—and why I can let it go.”
Empowered and free
The source of Margot’s fear was clear, and her mind finally understood what had held her back for so long. With this awareness came a new sense of confidence and empowerment. She was no longer bound by her past and knew she had the strength to overcome her fear.
Over the next weeks, Margot began retraining herself. She visited a nearby lake and took small, intentional steps. First, she touched the water with her feet. Then, with growing courage, she waded in up to her knees. Finally, she floated, feeling the water’s gentle support and marveling at how far she had come.
Where once even the thought of water triggered panic, Margot now approached it with calm assurance. By releasing her fear and leaving it in the past, she embraced the present, rediscovering the beauty and serenity of the water with confidence and freedome.
